Troubleshooting

I can't find The Sinope Toolbar in Microsoft Internet Explorer

  1. Please verify that the Sinope Toolbar is enabled by selecting View » Toolbars » Sinope Toolbar:

  2. Note that the Sinope Summarizer Personal Edition requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher.

I dragged the Sinope Slider, but nothing happens

  1. Make sure that Microsoft Internet Explorer has finished loading the web page before trying to summarize it.
  2. Please verify that you have dragged the slider to a value less than 100%.
  3. Some web pages that only contain links to other pages and do not contain much text will not be summarized by Sinope Summarizer.
  4. At this moment, Sinope Summarizer Personal Edition only understands English, German and Dutch texts. Please make sure that the text you want to summarize is written in one of those languages.
  5. Please make sure that you have registered the product.

When I generate a summary, the layout of the page changes

  1. In some cases, the layout of the original page cannot be reproduced in the summary. This may be caused by scripts embedded in the page that actively change the content and layout of the page.
  2. The layout may be dependent on certain elements like images or even text. If the summary does not contain these elements, the layout may change.
  3. We have tried our best to preserve the layout of most web pages, but if you come across a page that significantly changes its layout when summarized, please provide us with the URL of that page by sending an email to .

How do I uninstall the Sinope Summarizer Personal Edition?

  1. Prior to deinstallation, please make sure that the Sinope Toolbar is disabled in Microsoft Internet Explorer by deselecting View » Toolbars » Sinope Toolbar:

  2. Next, make sure that all Microsoft Internet Explorer windows are closed and restart your computer.
  3. Select Start » Programs » Sinope Summarizer PE » Uninstall Sinope Personal Edition and follow the instructions on screen.

The Sinope Toolbar has the wrong name in the View » Toolbars menu

Sometimes the Sinope Toolbar receives the wrong name in the View » Toolsbars, for example Radio. This is a known bug of Microsoft Internet Explorer. While this problem is relatively harmless and will not affect the proper functioning of Sinope Summarizer, you can resolve this issue by disabling the Sinope Toolbar (by deselecting the Radio bar!) followed by uninstalling and reinstalling the Sinope Summarizer.
